Choose a visit, not a photo collection
A religious setting is part of Delhi’s living life, not only a building to photograph. Bangla Sahib and the Lotus Temple can each be a meaningful visit, but they have different traditions and expectations. Begin by understanding which place you want to spend time in.
You do not need to share a faith to behave respectfully. Follow current staff guidance, observe what the space is being used for and allow people to worship without treating them as part of a travel scene.
Bangla Sahib: follow the gurdwara’s practice
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee identifies Bangla Sahib as a gurdwara connected with Guru Harkrishan. For a visitor, respectful entry matters more than memorising every historical detail before arriving.
Cover your head and remove footwear as directed, dress respectfully and use the visitor arrangements rather than improvising your own route. Ask where photography is allowed; permission in one courtyard should not be transferred to a prayer hall or every part of the grounds.
Langar is not a restaurant listing
If joining langar, follow the guidance for the community meal. It belongs to the gurdwara’s practice of service and should not be approached as a restaurant reservation or an attraction with a guaranteed menu. Be patient and accept the way the meal is served.
Keep any donation voluntary and use the institution’s own arrangements. A stranger’s request or an unsolicited guide’s instruction does not establish a required payment. You can ask staff if you are unsure without allowing another person to rush the visit.
Lotus Temple: a different setting for worship
The official Bahá’í House of Worship site describes the Lotus Temple as welcoming people of different religious, national and other backgrounds for prayer and meditation. The lotus-shaped architecture is distinctive, but the visit is also about the use of the interior.
Follow the current visitor process and instructions about quiet, footwear and photography. Check access close to the visit and do not rely on an old weekly schedule. A photograph of the exterior does not establish permission to film inside or stage a shoot on the grounds.
Leave space between the two
These places are in different parts of Delhi. Choose one around your route, or give each its own time if both genuinely interest you. Do not make worship spaces the rushed middle of a race between monuments.
Ask about accessibility and any current restrictions that matter for your visit. Keep dress and behaviour considerate without turning them into a performance. The useful result is a visit you understood, with room for the people and practices that make the place more than its architecture.
