Choose an appetite-sized route
Old Delhi is a poor place to arrive with a challenge to eat ten dishes. A better first food walk has a small snack, one proper meal and a sweet if you still want it. The lanes and the pauses between them are part of the visit, not inconvenient gaps between famous counters. Choose the order around the actual places you want to reach. Natraj in Chandni Chowk, Karim's near Jama Masjid and a named Kuremal outlet are possible anchors, but they are not three doors on the same block. Check each current location and leave enough time to move through crowded streets without hurrying.
Natraj: begin with one plate
Natraj Dahi Bhalle Wala is associated with dahi bhalla and aloo tikki. The contrast is useful: soft lentil dumplings with curd and chutneys, or a potato preparation with a different texture. Ask what is being served that day and choose one rather than ordering both automatically before a full meal. Chaat can combine dairy, spices and several toppings. If an ingredient matters to you, ask before the plate is assembled. A popular counter is not a guarantee about every allergy or preparation method. Watch the serving conditions and move on if you are not comfortable, without feeling that you have failed an essential stop.
Karim's: make room for the meal
Karim's original Old Delhi address is in Gali Kababian near Jama Masjid. Its own menu identity includes kebabs, korma and tandoori cooking. For a first visit, select a main dish and bread that work for the group, leaving the huge tasting spread for a larger table with the appetite to match. Clarify the meat and portion before ordering, especially if a dish name is unfamiliar. Ask about the current menu rather than treating an old account of the restaurant as a list of what will be available now. A family history can give the meal context, but it cannot tell you whether you will enjoy every dish.
A kulfi finish needs an exact shop
Kuremal is a name you will encounter in Old Delhi's kulfi search, including businesses using different full names. Kuremal Mohanlal lists a Chawri Bazar outlet in Kucha Pati Ram; Kuremal Mahavir Prasad also operates under the Kuremal name. Confirm the full business and location rather than assuming all similarly named pins are the same shop. Fruit-filled and other kulfi varieties can make a memorable final choice, but availability is seasonal and shop-specific. Ask about milk, nuts and the fruit preparation if those details matter. You can share a portion or stop without dessert. A food walk does not become better simply by leaving you uncomfortably full.
Keep the city in the visit
If you also plan to visit Jama Masjid, separate the worship-space visit from the meal and check its current access instructions. Do not carry the assumption that restaurant access establishes mosque access. Keep food and photography respectful of the places and people around you. Use a small bag, drink safe water and leave room to pause. Check the final bill and the merchant name before paying, and keep the next stop optional. Old Delhi's food is best encountered with curiosity and a little restraint, not with a stopwatch and a requirement to like everything.
Shyam Sweets: a Chawri Bazaar breakfast choice
Shyam Sweets' own site gives an address at 112 Chawri Bazar, and The Indian Express's food reporting describes its breakfast tradition. Choose a modest breakfast here instead of adding it after a full meal. Ask what is being prepared fresh that morning and order a small portion first. A historical food feature does not establish today's opening time, price or an unlimited ability to accommodate a large group.
Paranthe Wali Gali: choose one shop and one appetite
Delhi Tourism includes Paranthe Wali Gali in its food-tour material. Treat the lane as a choice among businesses, not one restaurant with a uniform menu or hygiene standard. Ask how a paratha is cooked and what the filling and accompaniments contain, and be realistic about a rich fried meal in a long tasting day. You do not need to eat at several counters to have experienced the lane.
Qureshi: resolve the exact kebab shop
Delhi Tourism has a specific listing for Abdul Ghani Qureshi Kabab Corner. Use the full name and actual location when confirming a visit, because similar Qureshi names do not establish the same business. Ask what meat is used, how the portion is served and whether the counter is operating when you plan to arrive. Keep a busy working lane clear and do not turn the grill into an obstacle for customers.
Changezi Chicken: a meal stop, not another snack
Changezi Chicken's own site identifies its Old Delhi restaurant and its named chicken preparation. If that is your priority, make room for a proper meal and confirm the exact branch, portion and current service. Do not add a second full meat meal after Karim's simply to complete a list. Ask about dairy, nuts and heat rather than assuming that the name tells you every ingredient.
Kuremal: distinguish similarly named kulfi businesses
The checked sites include Kuremal Mahavir Prasad Kulfiwale and a separate Kuremal branch directory associated with Mohan Lal. Do not treat their names, branches and products as interchangeable. Choose the exact business and address, then ask about the current fruit, dairy ingredients, portion and refrigeration. A stuffed-fruit image does not prove that a particular flavour is in season or suitable for an allergy.
Sita Ram Diwan Chand: a separate Paharganj choice
The operator's location page identifies its Chuna Mandi, Paharganj address. This is a concrete chole-bhature alternative, not a stop inside the same small Chawri Bazaar circuit. Choose it instead of another large breakfast if that is the food you want. Confirm the actual branch and current service, and allow for transport. Similar brand names and delivery pages are not enough to settle which counter you will visit.
Rajinder Da Dhaba: another neighbourhood, another meal
Rajinder Da Dhaba's own story page gives a Safdarjung Enclave DDA Market address. It is a separate dinner direction from the Old Delhi walk, not the final nearby stop on a tasting lane. Check current service and the exact ordering or seating format. If you want to go, keep the afternoon food light and plan the return. Do not promise a late-night opening simply because an older food crawl labels it that way.
Make the self-guided route smaller than the city
For a manageable morning, choose Shyam Sweets or another breakfast, one Old Delhi walk and a small dessert if wanted. For a meal-led visit, choose Karim's or Changezi rather than both. Paharganj and Safdarjung are separate alternatives. CR Park, Kamla Nagar and Majnu Ka Tilla belong to other neighbourhood outings, not an obligation to cross Delhi repeatedly in one day. This guide does not claim that a multi-neighbourhood list is a tested 24-hour route or publish a guessed map.
Kamla Nagar: a separate chole-bhature choice
The Indian Express's reporting identifies Chache Di Hatti with chole bhature in Kamla Nagar. It is a separate neighbourhood meal lead, not part of a compact Old Delhi walking loop. Confirm current operation and plan transport if choosing it, rather than trying to eat several full breakfasts across the city. A historical feature is background, not a live opening or price guarantee.
