Evening does not mean all night
The useful question is which traders will still be open when you arrive, not which Delhi market has acquired a night-market nickname. Individual stalls may pack up before the wider area becomes quiet. These are two concrete shopping leads for an early-evening outing, not a claim that either operates after midnight. Check the current gate time or trader schedule before leaving, particularly on holidays.
Janpath for a street-market browse
Delhi Tourism describes Janpath's kiosks as a mix of clothing, jewellery and curios. It also identifies a Tibetan market near the Imperial with brassware and thangkas. Choose this area when you want a browsing street rather than a single controlled craft venue. Compare material and finish before discussing price. A stone's colour does not establish what it is. If an item is described as silver, handmade or old, ask for evidence and get the agreed description on the bill.
Dilli Haat INA for crafts and food
Delhi Tourism describes Dilli Haat INA as a craft-and-food market with work from different parts of India, near AIIMS in the INA area. Pick it if you want to combine browsing with a food stop rather than move between several shopping streets. The maker, seller and products on your visit may differ from those in an old photograph. Ask who made the item and where, without assuming every similar-looking piece has the same origin.
Pitampura for a later-evening option
Delhi Tourism lists Dilli Haat Pitampura with opening hours from 11 am to 10 pm. That makes it a later-evening lead than the INA page, which currently lists 11 am to 8 pm. Older INA notices show different seasonal times, so do not transfer one venue's hours to the other. Confirm current operation, the particular stalls and any event before making the journey. A 10 pm listed closing time still does not establish midnight shopping or guarantee every trader stays until the gate closes.
Make the return part of the plan
Choose one main market and leave time to inspect a few stalls properly. Arriving while there is still daylight helps with checking stitching, colour and small defects. Confirm the full price and any packing charge. Keep valuables secure and decide how to return before traders start shutting. Choose a well-lit pickup point you can identify clearly to a driver.
What remains unverified
We have not established a universal late-night closing time across Janpath's independent traders, or an after-hours shopping programme at Dilli Haat. If your only available arrival is close to closing, contact the venue or a specific shop first and be prepared to go another day. An honest early-evening plan is better than a midnight-shopping promise that sends you to shuttered stalls.
